Beechwood, Comboyne, Long Flat, North Shore and Telegraph Point are covered in the Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan.

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has adopted the Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan for the five communities.

The Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan process provides a structured plan to implement pedestrian improvement programs and infrastructure across the five villages.

The document is a strategic action plan to assist in the coordinated approach to delivering key pedestrian infrastructure.

The focus is on the two most critical types of pedestrian facilities - footpaths and road crossings.

The plan examines existing footpaths and road crossings, as well as travel patterns, public transport and demographic characteristics of each village.

The document spans community consultation including suggestions for improved pedestrian infrastructure, and an infrastructure review and action plan.

The council received eight submissions during the plan’s exhibition process.

A report to the April council meeting said the strategic document would provide guidance for the ongoing development of the pedestrian network in the five villages.

The proposed infrastructure plan does not represent a financial commitment from the council to any of the identified works but the council will consider the plan as it develops future works programs.

The plan will also be used to prepare grant funding applications.

The council appointed the consultants, Arup, to prepare the plan.
