If this open cut strip mining proposal (reported in the Camden Haven Courier on 8 May 2017) goes ahead for cobalt (dreadfully poisonous) and other metals using toxic acid leaching chemicals to ruin the water table and the atmosphere. Not to mention the ameniety of the area, the noise, the trucks and dozers, the dust, the rippin g apart of our beautiful forests and the ruination of your lifestyle.
The proposed mining area even encompasses the Cowarra Dam, the source of most of our drinking water and incredibly a large swathe of surburban Port Macquarie, Thrumster and Lake Innes.
So far there has been a deafening silence from all of our politicians, including the local member Mrs Leslie Williams whose government is responsible for mining activity in this area. I wonder too what our Port Macquarie-Hasting Councillors think about all of this. Not a peep yet!
Are you happy with this state of affairs. I certainly am not. How about reminding Mrs Williams just who you are, where you live and what your thoughts are about turning the mid-north coast into another mining precinct (like the almost totally ruined Hunter Valley). Mrs Williams can be contacted at:
