A big thanks to the 80 plus residents who attended the community meeting with Councillor’s last week at Lake Cathie.
These meetings are a valuable opportunity for us to hear directly from the community on matters of local interest and importance, and provide us with a great opportunity to understand your needs and ask questions.
There was plenty of interest on matters relating to getting around Lake Cathie and surrounding areas, with great discussion on local roads, footpaths and a walking track.
The proposed skate park - for which the Council recently allocated $10,000 from the Community Grants program - and Lake Cathie foreshore were also discussed.
These meetings form part of the Engaging and Communicating with our Community program, and are an important element of Council’s role in understanding our community’s priorities.
Thank you to all the individuals and community groups for the interest, passion and commitment to making our region a better place to live.
Libraries in the spotlight
Library and Information Week starts on Monday, and is a welcome reminder of the wide array of services and facilities available all year round at our branches in Laurieton, Port Macquarie and Wauchope.
As part of this annual nationwide event there are lots of local events and activities to get involved in, including pop up exhibitions, readings, fun activities for all ages and even a simultaneous storytime.
In conjunction with the Glasshouse, there’s even a ‘Live & Local’ program of streamed coverage from the Sydney Writers’ Festival.
Many thousands of our community are familiar already with our libraries and the wealth of informative, entertaining and educational activities available. If you haven’t visited a library for a while, why not take the opportunity next week.
