Kirralee Balkin studied her Certificate II in Horticulture at Wauchope Campus in 2016. She’s been named Primary Industries Student of the Year at TAFE NSW’s North Coast Student of the Year awards on Wednesday 10 May in Coffs Harbour.
The awards recognised the efforts in 2016 of top-performing TAFE NSW students studying either on-campus, on-the-job or online on the North Coast.
The judges said that Ms Balkin had a good work ethic really wanted to succeed and had the determination to get there.
“She is passionate about the environment and passionate about her studies.”
Ms Balkin said that she wanted to broaden her skills and gain work in the industry.
“I love the environment and plants. I've learnt so much about the name and species of the plants, pest and diseases. The time at TAFE is great, great teachers and students.”
