Kendall Blues played Beechwood in foggy conditions, winning 34-4.
The Blue’s fundraising committee have worked diligently to improve lighting at the showground for its many users.
With a grant from state MP Leslie Williams, under the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership program, the lights will enable increased use of the facility.
“Without the support of Leslie Williams and her office this project would never have gotten off the ground,” Wayne Wilkes, president of the Kendall Blues, said.
“They assisted us with the application, and kept us informed throughout the process. Thanks also to the Showground Committee for supporting us in the funding efforts. Coastal Cooling & Electrical provided the technical know-how, so a big thank you to them. I’m sure the entire community of Kendall will benefit from this infrastructure. We have many other ideas moving forward, from improvements to seating and the canteen, to larger scale plans. We plan to be around for a long time.
“The Kendall community now has a permanent asset that will benefit not only the Blues but all future users of the showground. It will broaden the scope of what the ground can be used for and when the ground can be used. We are now keenly looking forward to more night games at Kendall.”
