The village joins seven other regional communities as Legendairy capitals from across Australia’s dairy regions such as Poowong in Victoria, Mount Schank in South Australia, Ringarooma in Tasmania and Cowaramup in Western Australia.

Dairy Australia’s managing director Ian Halliday said the accolade recognises dairy communities for their contribution to the industry.

“In what has been a challenging time for the sector, it is even more important to recognise Australia’s hard working, vibrant dairy communities.

“We are incredibly proud of all our nominated communities and would like to thank all entrants for sharing their personal stories of what makes towns like Hannam Vale legendary,” Mr Halliday said.

The Legendairy Capital program asks towns from across the country’s dairy regions to describe what makes them Legendairy and to nominate a project that will benefit the community.

As such, a $2,500 community grant will be used to upgrade the community reserve picnic area in Hannam Vale.
