The Port Macquarie-Hastings Mayor’s Sporting Fund and the Rotary Club of Port Macquarie Sunrise have again joined forces in 2017 to deliver the ultimate sports awards presentation ceremony.
There is $7,000 in prizes to be awarded to local athletes to help them achieve their sporting dreams.
Rotary Club of Port Macquarie Sunrise president, Jenny Sinclair said that last year’s “record number of nominations was inspirational.”
“We are looking forward to encouraging and supporting even more athletes this year,” she said.
The nomination period covers all sporting activity and achievements from October 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017.
The Wayne Richards Scholarship was launched in 2004 by the Mayor's Sporting Fund sub-committee as a tribute to former mayor Wayne Richards who established the Mayor's Sporting Fund in 1999.
He was a passionate supporter of youth and sport in the Port Macquarie-Hastings region.

“Our community has a fine tradition of outstanding talent when it comes to sporting ability and sports achievements at all levels,” she said.
