“The Whalebone Wharf has a plethora of unique products and services,” says owner Nathan Tomkins. “The most notable is that we are the only restaurant on the Mid North Coast offering live seafood. Customers have the unique experience of choosing fresh mud crab or lobster from the tank then having it prepared by our world class chefs.

“The restaurant also boasts the most magnificent waterfront dining on the Hastings River. Customers can arrive by seaplane (the only restaurant on the north coast which provides this service), boat or car. We also offer a unique location for a wedding or function.

“We are proud to be sustainable, sourcing 70% of produce from local providores and suppliers. A lot of the vegetable component comes from our own organic kitchen garden (harvested by our chefs). We also use all biodegradable scraps for compost, have installed many energy saving strategies and are currently smashing our targets of zero waste and sourcing 100% local produce by 2020.
