Amateur photographer Jason Kirkpatrick from Lake Cathie finds himself drawn to the ocean.
“Purely because of the natural beauty on display at any given time.”
More Behind the Lens stories:
- Travel and photography go hand in hand for Lyn Martyn
- Amazed when colour film became available
- She’s now known as Mrs. Paparazzi
Jason has lived in Lake Cathie for eleven years and first turned to photography during a hard time in his life.
“I first ventured into photography after my first marriage broke down and it gave me an outlet to express myself and really refocus on what was important to me at the time.”
A photo of a pelican taking flight (shown here) is one of his favourite, as it showed him the possibilities of the art form.
“It was when I really got excited about the possibilities of capturing amazing images around us every day.”
