The Boardies claimed their first win in almost three years last weekend and Blues captain Beau Kettle knows they will aim to back up that performance with another one.
“It was really good for them to get that win,” he said.
“They’re a pretty good side and have been close in a lot of their games this season.”
Port Macquarie’s chances could be helped by an injury crisis which has enveloped the Blues where they again look like taking the field with only two players on the bench.
“We’re really struggling with injuries at the moment,” Kettle said.
“But in saying that we generally lift more when we have those injuries.”
Kettle said while injuries threatened to derail their season, they didn’t come in vital positions.
“We’ve been lucky where the players that have been injured haven’t been in the halves which has allowed a bit of consistency in the important positions of halfback, five-eighth and hooker.”
The Blues captain was wary of the impact Boardies fullback Tristan Morris could have.
“He’s a good player and if we take them lightly he’s the type of player that can pull your pants down and score a few tries,” he said.
With the semi-finals about four weeks away, Kettle said Kendall had already marked two dates in the calendar.
“The two games we’re really looking forward to is our double header next weekend when we play Long Flat and then when we go to Comboyne in a few weeks.”
