President Roger Barlow said the proposal started out as a discussion between members about the organisation’s focus for its next project.
Mr Barlow said the area is currently lacking in facilities which are attractive for prominently female sports such as netball.
He said the proposal of a half netball and basketball court has been put forward.
The cost of the proposal is estimated to cost about $30,000.
The Bonny Hills Progress Association is planning on applying for a grant through the 2017 Community Building Partnership (CBP) program.
Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams said through the program the NSW Government ensures funding is available to support organisations that think first-and- foremost about the needs of locals.
Applications for funding are now open and close on Monday, August 9.
