The ceremony is on Friday, September 8 at 6pm.
Bill and Betty Boyd have been society volunteers for 20 years while Joan has been involved for about 12 years.
Bill’s service to the society runs in his family. His grandfather was the society’s original president while Bill’s brother Bob was president for 20 years.
Bill said he has come full circle since being disqualified at his first show in 1948 for having 13 eggs showcased instead of 12. He has enjoyed being part of the chainsaw and wood chop fraternity.
Betty said the wood chopping spectacle has always been a very popular attraction at the show.
“I believe it’s the essence of the Australian bush and there is a romantic appeal to it,” she said.
Betty has helped supply the canteen with her famous pumpkin scones over the years for the show and the Kendall market.
“I did win first prize one year,” she said.
Betty describes the society as a family where there is a sense of belonging as people share their ups and downs of life.
Betty said the show continues to go from strength to strength and she credits the active community members for ensuring it does continue to grow.
Joan Turnbull follows the philosophy that if you can’t do a good turn then don’t do a bad turn.
She has always been an active volunteer within the community through her children’s school and now helps out with her grandchildren.
Joan has been involved with the society for about the last 12 years. She holds the position of being head of the canteen.
While she hasn’t got a barista certificate Joan said she has certainly made her fair share of cups of tea and coffee.
She said through the society she has met lots of nice people and enjoys helping raise money for a number of different community groups and projects.
Joan said volunteering gives people the opportunity to get out and about and takes their mind off worrying about their aches and pains.
She said she was honoured to accept life membership from the society.
The Camden Haven Show is on October 14 and 15.
