It’s helping Wauchope’s reputation as a motorcycle-friendly town, and follows on the success of the Ulysses Club’s AGM which brought thousands of bike enthusiasts to our town.

Mayor Peta Pinson said it was like rebranding Wauchope.

“Our history has been the Timbertown, and we’ve got this whole new energy here, especially since Ulysses and how amazingly successful that was. This is something we can build on and really put Wauchope on the map.

“It’s certainly going to bring some tourism into the town which is a plus for all our businesses, and that’s what I’m all about – making sure our businesses are flourishing with jobs, and our community is really prospering.”

Gary Rainbow, president of Wauchope Chamber of Commerce said the spaces were essential.

“As we know, parking is such an important part of any project, and to have motorcycle parking is crucial, since we have hardly any in Wauchope.  It’s a wonderful initiative.”

Jenny Pursehouse from Motorcycle-Friendly Wauchope is working towards the Moto Fest on November 18.

“It will be a one-day family-friendly event and we’ve tried to make it not just for motorcycle riders but for the businesses and the people of Wauchope to come together and have a fun day out.” she said.

“We’ve already had interest from riders from Queensland, Western Australia and Sydney and hopefully, it will be a good day out.”

Keen rider Stephanie Pursehouse was all in favour of the new spaces.

“It’s fantastic. It means we can come into town on the bike for a change and be able to park and have coffee and have lunch and meet our friends who are also on bikes.”
