From the Hunter to the Hastings, the construction, repair and upgrade of local roads will ensure they’re safer and more efficient, while the various projects deliver a significant boost in jobs.
Projects headlining the latest round include:
- $2.6 million – Rehabilitation and widening of existing pavement along a 2.7km stretch of Diamond Beach Road, Hallidays Point
- $2.3 million – Full rehabilitation and widening of existing pavement along a 1.5km section of Harrington Road, Harrington
- $2.3 million – Rehabilitation and widening of existing pavement along Ocean Drive, Kew
- $1.3 million – Foamed bitumen stabilisation of existing pavement along Beechwood Road, Wauchope
- $870,000 – Reconstruction of pavement and kerbs between Melbourne Street and Banks Street, East Maitland
Access to care for seniors
With our region having one of the highest aged demographics in Australia, it’s a priority of mine to ensure seniors can access the care they need.
Just last week, residents at Peter Sinclair Gardens in Hawks Nest toasted the completion of a new $6 million makeover of the facility.
The federal government funded 25 new residential places to allow the complex to accommodate 65 beds and deliver a range of care options including additional dementia services.
It further underlines our commitment to aged care following Commonwealth support for new facilities in Taree and Gloucester.
Just as the project has at Peter Sinclair Gardens, the projects will provide a significant boost to employment in the local economies with the creation of hundreds of jobs both pre- and post-construction.
