Our region is jam packed with things to do outdoors, and getting on your push bike is just one way to make the most of our beautiful natural surroundings.
From cycle ways to share paths and mountain bike tracks, there’s definitely something for everyone when it comes to cycling in our region.
Next week is NSW Bike Week and Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is hosting a number of free events that aim to raise awareness of bike safety; encourage people to ride to work; improve riding skills, and consider cycling as a great way to stay fit and healthy.
The week will kick off with a Bike Week Fun Day on Saturday, September 16, at Westport Park.
This family-focused event will include market stalls, food trucks, and people are invited to bring their bikes along and attempt the Mountain Bike Challenge Track, or let the kids ride free in the novice bike arena.
So strap on the helmet, pump up those tyres and get involved in a week-long celebration of all things cycling.

Wauchope pool making a splash
Last week a pair of shiny new diving boards were installed at Wauchope Pool as part of ongoing upgrades to this much loved community facility.
A new 3 metre and 1 metre diving board will now see diving enthusiasts, parents and kids enjoy attempting the perfect dive in Wauchope, and comes just in time for the re-opening of the pool for the school holidays.
Other upgrades to the pool will include the construction of a new children’s water play area adjacent to the existing toddler pool, a tiered covered concrete grandstand on the north side of the pool and new shade shelters.
