The NSW Rural Fire Service is urging people in bush fire-prone areas to be prepared and remain vigilant, with hot, dry and wind conditions forecast for Wednesday.

District Manager, Superintendent Kam Baker said the forecast high temperatures, in excess of 30 degrees along with strong winds means there is an increased risk of fires.

“It’s important that the community understands the risk and prepares accordingly,” he said.

A fire on Mount Cairncross at Tower Road started on Friday September 1.

Firefighters from NSW RFS and FCNSW have been working in difficult terrain to establish containment of this fire. It has currently burnt 379 hectares.

The fire operation has been supported by aerial water bombing.

A bush fire over 10 hectares at Loop Road in Ballengarra State Forest is under control.

A bush fire at 1057 Rollands Plains Road is out of control.  

A bush fire over 225 hectares at 1102 Pappinbarra Road is under control.

 A bush fire at Kerewong State Forest at Blackbutt Road over 500 hectares is under control.

A bush fire over two hectares at Cold Nob Road in Lorne is under control.

A bush fire over 274 hectares at Jolly Nose Drive in Bonny Hills is under control.
