The HBO drama, based on Liane Moriarty's best-selling novel, snapped up not one but four trophies at the 69th Emmy Awards on Monday.

"I'm thinking about it," she said. "It's a beautiful possibility. That's all that I'll say."

Nicole Kidman won outstanding actress in a limited series for her portrayal of Celeste Wright. The show also picked up nods for best limited series and best directing and supporting actress in a limited series.

Kidman brushed off questions about a second season by saying she just wanted to focus on the success of the show's first iteration.

"Right now we just want to savour this moment," she said. "It's amazing."

Speaking of her foray from film into television, Kidman said the experience had allowed her to develop a closer relationship with her audience.

"It's created a situation for me where I've never been closer to the audience than through this show," she said. "The way people talk to me and talk about my storyline is extraordinary. I'm so surprised at how many women are even in this situation. It's devastating."

Kidman plays a character who is in an abusive relationship, and said the role has affected her "more than anything I've ever done".

"[But] that's what we do as actors - we're meant to do things that disturb us sometimes," she said.

Moriarty previously confirmed to Fairfax Media that she was open to a second season, but not a second novel.

"The obvious thing is, first of all, I think we could bring in more of Bonnie's story from the book," she said.

"And also what happens next [for Celeste]. That's the question that's also a really interesting thing, when you've been through a relationship like that, how do you feel now? How would she feel? She's grieving. She's still grieving for the end of a terrible relationship and I think that would be a really interesting thing to explore."
