Shortly after 2am on Wednesday September 20, Fire & Rescue Wauchope were called to a house in Princess Avenue.
“When we arrived the fire had already gone out through the roof,” said Captain Robert Pursehouse.
“The house appears to have been empty. We fought the fire for some hours and contained it to the house where it started, and stopped it from spreading to other houses nearby.”
Police are investigating the blaze.
The local firies were helped by Fire & Rescue Port Macquarie, the Hazmat support van, and local Rural Fire Service Units.
“We had trouble with the water mains not being able to provide enough,” said the fire captain.
“It’s really important that people make sure they have a working smoke alarm and they have made tne practised a home fire escape plan,” he said.
