NPWS area manager Steve Atkins said a huge range of free activities at Roto House Historic Site, adjacent to the Koala Hospital, on October 8 is planned to celebrate the anniversary.
“People will be able to see what we have done in the 50 years of national parks with the NPWS Ranger photographic presentation,” Mr Atkins said.
“They will be able to enjoy the Aboriginal cultural demonstrations, children’s Aboriginal storytelling and Koori Olympics activities.
“You can step back in time with a guided tour through historic Roto House or go on a Koala Hospital guided tour and partake in koala educational activities
“We will also be recognising our vital community partnerships including Landcare.
“And we will celebrate the many locals who have worked with us to preserve our natural environments and heritage over the last 50 years.
“Make a day of it as it is a great chance to discover what we do in this amazing region.
“Enjoy a free morning tea and sausage sizzle while listening to an acoustic guitar performance.
“Meet our local NPWS staff who look after our wonderful nature reserves and national parks,” Mr Atkins said.
