The impressive horse, trained by Chris Waller and owned by Jack Blake, was jockeyed by Tye Angland.
It was a nerve rattling end to the cup, with the seven year old last-start winner at Ipswich pipping Social Element and Brazen at the post and sending the crowd of hundreds into a frenzy.
Race manager for Chris Waller, Liam Prior, said the impressive horse did his job.
“We bought him out from England a couple of years ago and he rose through the grades quite quickly,” he said.
“He’s been quite successful at the country meetings. We took him up to Brisbane this year when we opened our Gold Coast stable and he got a new lease of life up their.
“A $150,000 race is probably as good a race as he’ll win during his career.”
Blake said the horse is one of several he owns, but described Loving Home as a “genuine” horse.
“He’s done very well for us. This is his tenth start this prep, so it’s a testimony to Chris Waller to keep a horse up for that long and finish off a race as he did today,” he said.
It was a fantastic experience. When he crossed that line I felt absolute delight.

“Our special thanks go to the trainer and of course Tye Angler for running the perfect race.
I’m always nervous heading into a race, even with mid-week races. But I was particularly nervous today because it’s the cup.”
Blake said big race days like the Port Cup are important for not only the community but for country NSW in general.
“It was a fantastic experience. When he crossed that line I felt absolute delight,” he said.
“The thing about racing is, there are some good times but also periods where you don’t have any success at all.
When you have success you make the most of it and we are about to.”
Angland rode the winner in race one to start the day, Yesteryear, over 1200 metres.
The second race went to Desert Rush, the third to Heidsieck and the fourth to Princess Lottie, jockeyed by Port Macquarie’s Belinda Hodder.
Impressive newcomer to the jockey scene, Ceejay Graham, rode a clear winner upon Sepae in race five despite being long odds.
