Club registrar and vice president Ben Hosick said the open day was a great chance for families to check out surf life saving.
“The open day on October 15 will give individuals and families the chance to come down and check out what is inside a surf club,” he said.
“We will have the doors open from 10am unitl 2pm to show everyone around and answer any questions.
“And from 2pm until 6pm, the club bar will be operating too. So you can come down and check out the spectacular views.”
With the patrolling season well underway, the Camden Haven Surf Club has also kicked off the popular nippers program.
“Nippers got underway on Sunday October 8 and will continue each fortnight. We had a great turnout – the best in years with the biggest sign up of new families in a long time.
“We now have 20 new families joining the club … it is shaping up as a great season.”
Nippers coordinator Suzanne White said the increase in family membership was fantastic.
“It is fantastic to see so many new nippers join the club and even more encouraging was the increase in existing Members who have put their hand up to help out as Age Managers,” White said.

“It is pleasing to see all the hard work put in by the club’s committee and members last season and in the off season has started to show results in such a dramatic growth of the club’s numbers.
“It is great to see the young parents in our community take charge of educating their children in beach and water safety.
“Not only will the nippers learn, so will the parents as they watch their children participate in activities. It will also help the family foster a sense of, and give back to their community.”
Ms White said there were plenty of positive comments being relayed back through the club, particularly from first time nippers keen to return to the beach.
Coupled with the busy start to the season, the club will hold a bronze and Surf Rescue Certificate course at the club commencing on Wednesday October 11. The course commences at 6.30pm.
SRC participants need to be aged 13 or 14 years while bronze medallion participants need to be 15 years and over.
This is an enrolment and induction night where all your question will be answered and paperwork commenced for any further information please contact Ben Hosick 0420 450 550.
