The community facility is a major project for the Lake Cathie/Bonny Hills Lions Club.
Recreation Park Project’s Clare Gray said members of both groups have been fundraising and working with the support of the Lake Cathie community.
“We have been holding barbecues twice a month at Lake Cathie Woolworths and Bunnings Port Macquarie as well as other fundraising activities,” Mrs Gray said.
“The Lake Cathie business community are also behind the project and are featured on our great new t-shirts that are available throughout the area.
“All funds raised from the sale of these t-shirts go toward this great, community project.”
“Enlocus’s commitment to our project is to undertake a genuine community engagement process,” she said.
“Enlocus understands that the best way to develop meaningful public places, which have the consensus of key stakeholders and all community groups, is to make themselves available and approachable.
“When the council gives us the go ahead Enlocus will be spending time in the community to help develop a unique, multi- purpose and all abilities facility.
Once complete, this project will offer space for expression, areas to develop skills, share and learn, spots to hang out and recreational functions.

“Once complete, this project will offer space for expression, areas to develop skills, share and learn, spots to hang out and recreational functions.”
Mrs Gray says she hopes the project will also create a youth space that helps to ignite the local area, sparking a vision and future for the Lake Cathie community.
The Skate and Recreation Park project is a passion we have taken on to provide the growth of the families that are coming into our area, somewhere that families of all ages can come and enjoy the activity and fun it will offer, she added.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is compiling a master plan for the foreshore and gathering information from residents about community needs and requirements.
”Our group has also discussed on the fact a new toilet and amenities block would be a necessity for easier access to everyone who uses our foreshore,” Mrs Gray said.
A draft Lake Cathie foreshore plan is likely to be available in mid-November.
