Four events will share in $20,000 from Port Macquarie-Hastings Council’s Event Sponsorship Program.

Suck it up Buttercup, Port Macquarie Running Festival, Slice of Haven and Hello Koalas Festival will each receive $5000.

The Hello Koalas Festival celebrates the koala, with the specific objective of promoting koala care and conservation, while the Port Macquarie Running Festival attracts elite athletes to joggers and walkers.

Suck it up Buttercup challenges participants with an obstacle course at Bago Vineyards.

Slice of Haven, an event in the Camden Haven, showcases food and wine.

Event Sponsorship Program applicants are required to demonstrate the proposed event is either a driver of significant overnight visitation or has the potential to grow to major event status with a significant economic impact.

A report to the October council meeting said applicants were also required to detail how the $5000 grant would be spent, with the proposed spending required to be allocated toward marketing activities which assist in attracting out of region visitors.
