“I didn’t really sleep because I was too excited,” Rebecca said.
The Year 12 graduates had reason to be eager, as both students from Camden Haven High School achieved high results.
Rebecca achieved 81 per cent for advanced english, 81 for chemistry, 89 for biology, 96 per cent for french and 91 per cent for personal development physical education.
“I was hoping for a good result but you just never know,” Rebecca said.
Storm achieved 87 per cent for standard english, 93 per cent for personal development physical education, 91 per cent for business studies, 91 per cent for general mathematics and 91 per cent for hospitality.
Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) results will be issued on December 14.
Both students said they felt prepared walking into their final exams.
“It’s all mental,” Storm said.
“I didn’t have a single teacher who didn’t support me the whole way through.”
Both Storm and Rebecca put in the hours of study and both started preparing three months out from exams.
They studied for at least four hours during the day, on top of school and other activities.
Rebecca wants to be a speech pathologist and will study at either Newcastle or Queensland University.
“My little brother underwent speech therapy for eight years and I helped out with his exercises,” she said.
Rebecca said she wants to help both children and older people.
“I think it would be a very rewarding career,” she said.
While Storm achieved high results in her final exams, she has no plans to go to university.
She is passionate about maintaining good health and an active lifestyle.
“Without your health you really don’t have anything,” she said.
Storm will study an advanced certificate of health coaching through an online course, which will take about 12 months to complete.
She plans to work and live locally to help clients through one on one sessions.
Rebecca and Storm thanked their year 12 coordinator Ben Sainsbury, teachers and parents for all their support.
