NHBC SOCIAL GOLF
Last Wednesday on a clear but rather chilly morning 26 members contested a Two Man Ambrose. The winning team was George Butlin and Trevor Page with a score of 47 1/2. Runners up with a score of 51 1/2 were Neville McCarthy and Trevor Rose. Third place went to Laurie Hamilton and Frank Underhill with 52 1/2. NTP on the fifth saw Trevor Rose take out the ball for A Grade while Tom Sutherland prevailed in B Grade. NTP on the eighth was won by Ian Johnston for A Grade but not a soul from B Grade made the green. Sight of the day was a mighty airswing on the 17th, the ball would have crossed the state line if it had connected. Next week's game will be a Single Stroke and the starters will be Ian Johnston and Col Huntley. (Don't let him at the book Ian!). The Sunday raffle will be administered by Rick Bower, Gary McLoughlin and Trevor Page. Every time a golfer makes a birdie, he must subsequently make two triple bogies to restore the fundamental equilibrium of the universe!
NORTH HAVEN INDOOR BOWLS
There were a good number of 34 bowlers attending last week and so we played 3 games of 6 ends. Another innovation was that the skips and leads changed ends, meaning that skips played leads and leads played as skips. It showed that many of us who are not confident of playing as skips can really do so. It was a good night. There were 2 x 3 games winners - Carole Hyde and Guy Piccorina who won the 1st place vouchers and Kevin Wayling and Chris Wagner who won the 2nd place vouchers. Scratchies were then won by Ken Posker and Dorothy Johnston, Jim Cleary and John Smith, Bill Hyde and Betty Bradley, Lorna Hoare and Donna Cutler. Names in by 6.45 for 7 o'clock start and all are welcome.

We had a tough game on the weekend, there were a lot of tries scored but most of them from a strong Taree Red Rovers team. Our boys tried hard but had no luck. Player of the match went to Cooper Gallagher who was good in attack going close to the line on several occasions and tried hard in defence. Strong games from Tieler Gardner, who is always strong in defence putting his body on the line and some good runs. Jaiden Rowe made some great runs and was busy in attack. Kyle Scarff had a solid game with a great try and converted his own try. Blake Felton had a good game running the ball up hard making good ground and scored a try. Ethan Swan who scored a late try and Ethan Wood had their usual all round strong games along with Jake Wells who tried hard and made some good runs and Kobi Chaplin who was busy around the ruck stopping anyone running at him.
Last game of the year next weekend, with a game on Saturday and a Gala Day on the Sunday at Sharks home ground with 3 or 4 games.

The team travelled to Taree to play Taree Panthers this week. Unfortunately, we lost 44 to 6 with Lachlan Burrell scoring a try and Jack Williams kicking the goal. We put up a fantastic defence. Adam Sullivan was Player of the Match and Lachlan Burrell was the runner up-Congratulations boys! It has been a tough season, but determination has shone through.
Well done team. A huge thank you to Gary Sullivan (team coach) for all his time and energy that he contributes to the team. THREE CHEERS FOR GARY! Go the Raiders!

U/7’s
I need to begin by correcting a few mistakes in my writeup last week. Firstly it was Kade who converted his try. Sorry about that Kade. Also, I was remiss in attributing too many points to the opposition. The scoreline was in fact only 22 to 16 and not 32 to 16. Sorry about that boys. On an absolutely beautiful Saturday morning, the under 7s team lined up against an equally talented side in Mitch’s old team the Port Breakers. What an absolutely enthralling game. Both teams showed plenty of fight and courage in attack and defence. Like last week, the lead continued to change in a see sawing game. Just remember boys, stay away from that sideline when you are running the ball. Step back inside as it is better to be tackled than being put over the sideline which hands the ball to the other side. It was great to see Peter back at his busy bustling best, hitting the ball up hard. Dean is becoming more and more courageous and determined in defence and always hits the ball up with a nippy step back on the inside. Damien showed great hustle diving on a loose ball to secure the ball for our team. Once again Kade, Mitch, Matt and Jack were busy in defence and attack. Casey used his lightning speed to score a try out wide after some beautiful work by Dylan who ran the ball nearly the whole length of the field, palming and stepping left right and centre, only to be pulled down a metre from the line. Dylan was able to score a try for himself but the try of the day was from Jake who picked up the ball from dummy half, about 40 out from the tryline and set sail with nearly the whole of the opposition in pursuit. A fantastic try and a determined run if we ever saw one. Unfortunately we were pipped at the post but what a great team the boys are combining to be. The enthusiasm they show each week is a thrill to see. Our final game of the season is against Wauchope at home next Saturday. Lets make it a good one and see you all at training!
U/10’s
Down to Taree for round 13 for the Under 10’s Eagles.
Against a competitive Rovers side we saw an even first half with both sides scoring 2 tries.
The Eagles went to sleep in the second half with the Rovers being allowed too much room to attack but our team tried to the death.
Special mention must go to Jy West and Matt Kneipp, two players who have been consistent all year and who never give up. Good defense, attack and enthusiasm is always part of their games. Well done.
Taylor Jones looks like the next ET showing again strong running and being rewarded with determined solo tries. Luke Roe ran strong again. Good games to Jarmaine Davis, Logan Hesse, Matt Booker, Patrick Driscoll, Mick Lloyd, Flynn Marshall, Lewis Callinan and Jordie Gibson. The three Amigo’s, of Marshall, Kennedy and Coskerie had their jumping beans for breakfast and played with chilli in their boots, good effort. Let’s reward TK and Leon next week boys with a huge Darryl Eastlake effort for all their advice and support for the last game of the year before the semi-finals. Boys play this last game and make it your best game.
Go the Eagles!

LUSC Fishing report
Gidday punters, well what a beautiful weekend for a change, (July 25/26) smooth seas, light winds and sunny skies and the fishing wasn’t bad either. The deep sea boys and girls did very well with some great bags presented at the weigh-in, whereas it was mixed for the rest of the crew. Notable captures for this weigh in were new member Garry Worthy’s 5.6kg snapper, Dylan Baldry’s 2.7kg drummer, Rob Atkin’s 7kg jewie and Dennis Byrnes 2.115kg trag, well done. The other notable capture was Bob Clarke’s phantom 1.575kg bream that I must have missed during the weigh-in, shame that.
To the winners, Junior Estuary winner was Mitchell Lowe, runner-up Ben Lobston. Junior Beach and Rock winner was Mitchell Lowe. Men’s Estuary winner was Gary Edwards, runner-up was Bert Hayes. Men’s Vets Estuary winner was Peter Pritchard. Men’s Beach and Rock winner was Rob Atkins, runner-up was Gary Williams. Men’s Vets Beach and Rock winner was Bobby (it wasn’t as big as I thought) Clarke. Men’s Deep Sea winner was Dennis Byrnes, runner-up was Andy (always the bridesmaid, never the bride) Martin, (sorry Andy Byrnsy made me say that. Men’s Vets Deep Sea winner was Noel Foster, runner-up was Kiwi O’Neil who I believe is still trying to work out how to get the smell of fish off of his fingers, (try soap mate baaaa). Ladies Vets Deep Sea winner was Marg Sheridan.
Just a reminder that our AGM and presentation is happening on August 9, starting at 11am at the rear of the LUSC club, I urge all LUSC fishing club members to attend. Meanwhile our next fishing comp is on August 22 & 23 with weigh-in at 1pm sharp at the rear of the LUSC club, all members and people wishing to join are welcome to attend. Until next month happy hunting.

JUNIOR SOCCER
U/11 C H Ray White R/E V Port United Emus
We had a variety of goal scorers this week for an entertaining 11-1 win over the Emus. Even though there were many goals scored the boys put in a great team effort and still worked hard for those goals. With the team still down on players the help from Adam and Ezra was much appreciated. Hope the Laurieton Boys enjoy their camp to Canberra and we will still see you bright and early at 8.30am on Saturday.
RHK Restaurant U/13 Girls v Kempsey Saints
Vast improvement from last time we met the match was a draw. This time around a 4 nil win to us. Hannah put us 2 up at the break both goals well finished and one each to Sky and Abbey in the second half. Our backs did well again stopping any raids Kempsey had to offer which enabled us to attack at the other end. Well done girls with the bare 11. Keep having fun. See you at training next week home again.

Under 6’s
We played an excellent game this week against a strong team. We managed to keep the final score low due to our teams great defence and good teamwork. Maddi our sportstar of the week and George played a great game stopping some of the goals and just missing a few of their own. Dylan put in a huge effort and was named player of the week. Jordan, Ely, Joel and Jacob all played a nice, fast game and covered lots of ground with lots of running and good passing.
Well done team on a good game, see you all at training.

U/9 CH Widders Consultancy v Port FC Ipco Cleaning
Camden Haven played Port FC at home this week and with Harrison sick we had to cover the fullback position. Well done team, great effort. Good to see players getting that ball and playing some good team soccer. Port FC have improved since our last encounter but still not enough to outshine our Redbacks. Jeb in goals first half pulled off some good saves while out on the field everyone put in effort to help which showed with Tyron, Krystal, Jeb and Jack all scoring goals. Only three games left for the season. Let’s see everyone at training if not ring me. Player of the game is Krystal Bird. Well done everyone. Final score win 7-2. Next Saturday is at Dixie Park Port Macquarie 10am.

Beaut weather, great food, cold refreshments, happy people equals another successful family day at Dunbogan park.
The kids had a great time with the fishing contest (I think the fish won).
Clive was showing his true colours as a master chef, with the occasional bit of help from the crew.
Thankyou to Kumbak Bakery’s owner “Walshie” for bread and donuts. Lovely to see the Hotels principals and children enjoying our hospitality for a change. T-Bones again delivered with the meat and we understand North Haven Bait & Tackle would have been too too busy to attend.
Over 100 members were enjoying the fare and not a grumble to be heard. Thank you to all concerned with the organising of yet another great family day.

Fourteen players fronted on Sunday August 2 on a beautiful sunny day to play a two person Ambrose. Winners on the day were Kate Maloney and Geoff Irvin with an impressive net 54 1/4. Kate told everybody that she really enjoys playing with Geoff saying “it’s just like a day at the office.” Runners-up were Tony Carroll and Paul Wisemantel with 57 1/4. Men’s NTP on the 4th went to Tom Scrine who also took out the men’s longest drive on the 8th. Lucy Boland returning to play with the club after a lengthy absence won the ladies long drive on the 8th. Other ladies claimed that Lucy had an unfair advantage as she was using men’s clubs. Men’s long drive on the 13th went to Geoff with a screamer. Geoff hits the ball so long that Tom Scrine thought it only fair that he be allowed to hit off from the ladies tees. Tom later claimed that he was not himself as he had been traumatised when a competitors ball struck him a severe blow whilst standing on the 3rd green. Ladies long drive on the 13th went to Dianna Maloney with a drive that just sneaked past the ball of her daughter Kate.
Next game is scheduled for Wauchope on August 16 for a single Stableford. Don’t forget the trip to Tallwoods is scheduled for September 13 with names and deposits now being taken.
