Superintendent Kam Baker says the Open Day is a great way for local residents to get to know the volunteers who protect their community, all year round.
“NSW RFS Open Day is a fun event for families and for the volunteers, who enjoy opening up their station and showing the local community what they do,” said Superintendent Baker.
“It’s a great opportunity for residents to build relationships with their local NSW RFS members, in a relaxed and friendly environment.
“It’s also a chance for residents to understand the bush fire risk in their area and what they can do to better prepare themselves for this bush fire season.”
The following NSW RFS brigade stations in Mid Coast District will be welcoming visitors at this Saturday’s Open Day:
› Coopernook – 9am to 2pm
› Hollisdale – 10am to 2pm
› Lansdowne - 9am to 12 midday
› North Shore – 10am to 2pm
› Community Engagement – Manning Mall 830am to 3pm
› Pembrooke – 10am to 2pm
› Rainbow Flat – 9am to 12 midday
› Rollands Plains – 10am to 2pm
› Bellangry - 10 am to 2 pm
› Telegraph Point – 10am to 2pm
› Bonny Hills - 9am to 2pm
› Camden Haven – 10am to 2pm
› Wauchope – 10am to 2pm
Superintendent Baker says there’ll be something for everyone who drops in to their local NSW RFS station this Saturday.
“It’s a great opportunity for the community to discover more about the role volunteers play at all types of emergencies, with many brigades holding practical demonstrations,” said Superintendent Baker.
“Kids will love jumping in the fire truck or having a go with the fire hose, and watching the volunteer firefighters display their skills.
“For children and adults alike, it’s also a chance to learn valuable skills on how to protect you and your family from bush and grass fires.
“I’d encourage all local residents to come along on Saturday 13 September and join in the fun, and thank our NSW RFS volunteers for the work they do.”
