Last week, the Courier highlighted concerns that the upgrading of the ramp had been delayed a number of times with no explanation. A barricade at the ramp had been removed by unknown persons.
The council has now confirmed that the boat ramp and associated parking will be closed from Monday, November 17 to facilitate the removal and replacement of the existing dual lane ramp and pontoon.
The council's director of infrastructure and asset management Jeffery Sharp said by upgrading the existing boat ramp at North Haven, the council was hoping to eliminate the issues faced by the current structure.
"Council appreciates the high use this ramp receives, particularly during holiday periods, and has proposed these further upgrades to cater for this demand," Mr Sharp said.
"A complete upgrade of the concrete elements of the boat ramp should ensure its longevity into the future, as well as providing easier access for users at all tide levels."
Construction is expected to take up to four weeks. Full details of the work can be found at www.camdencourier.com.au
