Boardies want back in Hastings League competition

THE Port Macquarie Boardriders could find themselves back in the Hastings League competition next year.

If the club is resurrected it would be largely due to two people. Kliff Foggon and Cyril Marchant are leading the drive.

Both have pulled the jersey on in the past and hope to do it again for the once great club.

"It's a shame the club had to fold in the first place, I love the club," he said.

"I moved away last year otherwise I would have tried then."

The pair have so far used social media to spread the word and the interest has been great.

"We've had heaps of people reply saying they want to play so the signs are good at the moment," Foggon said.

The pair have almost achieved their goal with a coach and a stand in president already offering their services.

"So basically now we just need players," Foggon said. "And so far we've got about 20 who have said they're interested we just need them to sign up and hopefully get another five or so along the way."

To help achieve the numbers the pair are holding a sign up day and barbecue at the Fernhill Tavern on Saturday from 5pm.
