Made up of children "leftover" from 12s and 13s the "Reds" team has put in a monumental effort to record their first win of the season.
With tremendous heart, great coaches and supportive families the team has come together.
"Six of our 15 players have never played soccer before. Most of the team is under the age of 13 and we have a couple of 11 year olds," said team manager April Ferguson.
"When we started the season we were at such a huge disadvantage, due to the team's young age and inexperience. We have had the most amazing coaching by David Lee and Shane Spilsbury. They have turned around our team from our first game of loosing 21-0, to our first win last weekend. They turned a group of different aged kids who mostly have not played together, or even knew each other, into a cohesive group where the team morale is great. The kids pass to each other and work plays together. We have no ball hogs. They support each other. The family support is also amazing.
"Teddy (pictured above) is the team mascot and normally wears a Redbacks t-shirt and sits at the side lines every game. One of our cheerleaders carries him and does a teddy dance if we score a goal."
Great effort team!
