LAURIETON man Merv Christenson hooked a whopper in the Camden Haven River recently.
He found a Piaggio-brand motor scooter, which he assumes has been dumped in the river.
"The water was really clear that day, and I could see the aluminium wheels a couple of metres down in the water," Merv said.
"It must have been there for a while, because it's covered in barnacles."
"Myself and another guy managed to attach an anchor rope and reef anchor, then used a car to pull it closer to the edge."
Merv removed the vehicle's Queensland registration plate, and left it at Laurieton police station.
"It will be interesting to find out whether or not it's been stolen," Merv said.
Police enquiries are continuing.
