Mobile again: Paul Rolph, Steve Jubb, Cllr Sharon Griffiths, Christine and Bill Erskine celebrating the arrival of the new scooter.
Generous car club members have donated a mobility scooter to a Wauchope man who says it will change his life.
Paul Rolph was a maths student at university in Sydney in the seventies when he had a serious crash.
His legs were badly damaged in the accident and he was in hospital for months.
“I tried to go back to university, but I found the physical effort of getting around the place was too much,” he said.
Bill Erskine from Mid North Coast Ford Owners Club met Paul in the street a few years ago, and asked him if he’d like a mobility scooter. Eventually, Paul said yes, and Bill was delighted.
“I went home, got online and brought up secondhand mobility scooters. There was one in Wauchope.”
