The opening events of the Ocean and Earth NSW Junior Surfing Festival got off to a flying start on Thursday with champions being crowned in the Australian Skin Cancer Clinic NSW Junior Longboard State Titles and the Australian Kneeboard Titles Round 2.
Chayne Simpson (Corrimal) added another Australian Kneeboard Title to his portfolio, claiming the Open Mens division. The Illawarra kneeboarder posted an impressive 15.77 heat total (out of a possible 20 points) to take victory ahead of Kyle Bryant (Avoca) who finished in the runner-up position.
Frank Murphy (Angourie) dominated the Australian Skin Cancer Clinic NSW Junior Longboard State Titles claiming dual victories across the Under-18 Boys and Junior Logger divisions.
The talented natural-footer surfed well beyond his years, posting a handful of near perfect 18-point heat totals. As a result, Murphy has cemented his spot in the NSW team for the forthcoming Australian Longboard Titles at Coffs Harbour.
Tully White (Allambie Heights) can look forward to a spot in the NSW team, thanks to taking out the Under-18 Girls division at the Australian Skin Cancer Clinic NSW Junior Longboard State Titles.
White posted a respectable 12.90 heat total to claim the victory ahead of runner-up Sienna Coulter (Balgowlah) who finished in the runner-up position.
The Ocean and Earth NSW Junior Surfing Festival continues on Friday at Middle Rock (Lake Cathie).
The nine-day event will run until July 21, 2016, with the festival is set to include:
