LAUGHTER, music and shrieks of delight rang out in Bold Street on Saturday afternoon at the Camden Haven Chamber of Commerce’s Christmas in July festival.
It’s estimated that, at it’s peak, around 3,500 locals and visitors were roaming Bold Street, taking in the food, fun and entertainment.
Children and grown ups ran under the snow-making machines. Santa Claus lead a record-setting conga line. The two entertainment arenas were pumping all afternoon and into the evening.
Lee Dixon, president of the Camden Haven Chamber of Commerce, said the event was an outstanding success.
“It has been wonderful to see businesses embrace this chance to showcase Laurieton’s main street to the community and I’ve spoken to so many visitors today who are impressed with what’s on offer,” Lee said.
“From a business perspective we will be talking numbers this week and comparing a ‘normal’ Saturday afternoon to last year’s inaugural Christmas in July and this year’s event.”
Festival-goers said they are already looking forward to the 2017 event.
“This is such a great event,” one visitor from Port Macquarie said.
“It’s been great to discover how much fun Laurieton is. We can’t wait for next year’s event.”
