In Hastings Rugby League the Kendall Blues travelled to Lake Cathie to take on the Raiders on Saturday, coming away with a win. The Raiders played the match with just 11 men.
The scoring started early for the Blues. Ben Potter crossed for the first try of the day in the opening minute of the match after the Blues took the ball from the kick-off. Blayne Lambert-Bignell was next to cross the line which was the start of a trifecta for the day. The Blues the showed strength in their attack all day running in 15 tries and converting 12.
The Raiders were fortunate to break through the Blues’ defence twice in the first half but the Blues went into the half time break with a lead of 46 - 10.
Both teams returned to the field strongly for the second half. Kendall scored a further 38 points and the Raiders also scored another try.
Brad Smith made his way down the sideline in the first and second half bagging himself a hat trick of tries and halfback Dale Higgins finished the match off scoring under the posts. This was also Dale's third try for the day and he was the third player to make a hat trick.
Other try scorers were Daniel Minns, Jahbe Latham, Robert Smith, Zack Hanlon and Jacob Cook. Alex Pearce converted 8 goals and Jahbe Latham also converted four goals.
The Blues are back at home this weekend to take on the Lower Macleay Magpies.
The Blues and the Magpies are equal second on the Hastings League ladder so it is sure to be a battle on the field at Kendall Showground.
