SURF Lifesaving’s best board riders swapped patrol uniforms for wetsuits last weekend to contest the 2016 NSW Board Riding Championships on the Central Coast.
Among the youngest competitors was Wauchope/Bonny Hills Surf Lifesaving Club member Sarah Stewart.
Sarah brought home the gold medal in the Under 13 Female division.
In the youth events, South West Rocks’ Finn Askew blitzed his field in the Under 14 and Under 15 Male events claiming two gold medals.
Sarah and Finn’s achievements meant that Mid North Coast Branch competitors brought home three of the six gold medals on offer at the event.
Despite the small conditions at Soldiers Beach over the three-day event, organisers said the competition was strong across all age groups.
The championship featured entrants from Under 13 through to Masters in both short and long board riding, with over 120 athletes participating.
