The van was purchased from funds raised at the op-shop and means the volunteer team can now pick up and deliver larger items like furniture for welfare clients.
“It’s going to make a big difference to our service,” said one of the op shop coordinators, Marie Pryor.
“Previously we have had to use a private vehicle, when possible, and a trailer to transport some larger items which wasn’t always convenient and couldn’t be used in wet weather. This van will mean we can make pick ups and deliveries five mornings a week.
“We have plenty of great volunteer drivers, what we really need now are younger people with good backs who can help with some of the lifting.”
Mrs Pryor said anyone able to help with the more labour-intensive work for just a few hours a week would make a big difference to the dedicated team who run the op shop.
