Graham Lee is the latest person to be acknowledged as ONE Local Hero.
Graham is the organiser of the Barbecue for the Needy, held every Friday, 3pm-5pm, behind the Laurieton United Services Club. The event sees those in need within the community, sit down to a barbecue meal and a chat with volunteers.
“Everyone enjoys the meal together, there is no ‘us and them’,” said Graham.
From the discussions over a bacon and egg roll and salad, volunteers can gauge what support the community can provide for those homeless people and families in need.
Gaven Whalley from ONE Agency North Haven said Graham was a worthy recipient of the $200 donation and recognition as ONE Local Hero. He said the money would be spent on future barbecues.
