CAMDEN Haven High School student Tom Lewis smashed a long standing record in the 1500m.
The year 10 student broke the North Coast region record, which was set in 1974, by seven seconds.
To beat the 42 year old record Tom ran the 16yr olds boys division in 4.21.55.
Tom’s success now has him holding age group records for the North Coast in the 14, 15 and 16yr boy’s events.
Tom has competed at both State and national level in both cross country and athletics since primary school.
He has now made the decision to concentrate on athletics, especially the 1500m.
Tom and fellow student Joel Perrin (AWD) also competed at the NSW Combined High Schools Athletics Championships in Sydney on September 7-9.
Joel qualified for the 15yr boys 200m, 800m and long jump.
