A series of community workshops will be held during October, providing residents with the opportunity to discuss footpaths, safe crossings and pedestrian access within Port Macquarie-Hastings towns and villages.

The workshops will assist the council in preparing a draft Small Villages Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan.
“Footpaths are a part of everyday life, providing the basis for recreation and physical activity, enabling access to the many areas of our community, and creating a sense of connectivity,” said council director Jeffery Sharp.
Local input will assist the council in developing a plan that addresses the barriers to people getting around, and ensure better pedestrian infrastructure is provided at critical locations.”
The draft Small Villages Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan will act as a blueprint to determine future pedestrian and mobility works programs and funding opportunities.
The workshops will be held at:
- Beechwood Community Hall - 4pm, Friday October 14
- Telegraph Point Community Hall - 10am, Saturday October 15
- North Shore Kangaroo Park - 4pm, Friday October 21
- Comboyne Community Hall - 10am, Saturday October 22
- Long Flat Community Hall - 2pm, Saturday October 22
After the workshops there is also the option to join a 30 minute walking tour with council staff to look at high priority areas. If joining the walking tour, wear comfortable closed shoes, a hat and bring a water bottle.
