Rising singing stars Julie Paik (soprano) and Lewis Barber (baritone) perform selections from some of the most loved operas of the past.
They will be joined by flutist Sarah Ismail and pianist Jeanell Carrigan.
Their performance will include arias and duets by Handel, Mozart, Dvorak, Donizetti, Bellini and Verdi. Further works on the program include the Undine Sonata for flute and piano by 19th century composer Carl Reinecke and Claude Debussy’s “Syrinx”.
The PhiloMusica pre-concert talk at 11.30am by Goetz Richter, founder of the PhiloMusica series, asks if opera might be a form of philosophy as it absorbs the forces of myth taking in art and culture in the 19th century particularly and increasingly determines the sensibilities of modernity.
The Kendall PhiloMusica series combines musical performance and philosophical reflection. Profits from the series benefit the Kendall National Violin Competition.
Tickets for the PhiloMusica event are $30 and available through Mavis Barnes 02-6559 4339, PO Box 86, Kendall NSW 2439 or at the door.
