Plans for the Ulysses Club’s AGM in Wauchope in May 2017 are revving up.
Members of the social club for bikers over 40 will come to Wauchope in their thousands for the event, based at the Showground.
Robert Johns from the organising committee for the Ulysses 2017 AGM event said things are really taking shape.
“I’m extremely happy with the progress that our committee is making. We’ve had lots of help so far from the Wauchope Chamber of Commerce and Port Macquarie Hasting Council.”
The Chamber is planning an initiative next month to make Wauchope only the second motorcycle-friendly town in Australia, the first being Texas in Queensland.
And the chamber have put signs on the sides of bus shelters, welcoming Ulysses to the 2017 AGM.
At a committee meeting this week in the Wauchope RSL, the special guest was Mike Meymann, director of this year’s Ulysses AGM in Tasmania.
Mike was impressed with Wauchope Showground: “It’s good, nice and compact. It’s a very exciting event for the whole area,” he said.
The committee have been meeting caterers, and organisations like the Lions Club and the Ladies Auxiliary about providing food and refreshments during the week-long event.
They’re liaising with the council about signs and traffic management, portable toilets and health and safety.
They need 500 volunteers to help things run smoothly, so if you’re interested, go to www.ulyssesclub.org
