Camp Quality is this weekend hosting a camp for families living with cancer at the BIG4 Bonny Hills Holiday Park.
The weekend provides families with the opportunity to spend a weekend together to reconnect and relax from the stresses of cancer.
The camp, which is generously funded by Tour de Rocks, will include a number of activities designed for both children and parents.
Nine families will be treated to a lesson in surfing thanks to the Port Macquarie Surf School and will also take part in ten pin bowling, fishing and a celebratory Christmas dinner on the final night at the Lake Cathie Bowling Club, where families will be able to enjoy karaoke and juke box tunes.
Lyn Poulter, a volunteer Companion with Camp Quality for the past 10 years and the leader for this camp, is thrilled with the funding that Tour de Rocks and the local community have provided in making available these opportunities to families.
“I’ve seen the difference these camps give to families; this is often the first time they have been able to take a break together as a family since the diagnosis,” Mrs Poulter said.
“Families are able to meet with others going through a similar journey and not feel so alone, they are also able to create lasting and positive memories as a family and we are incredibly thankful to the local community.”
