Salvation Army toy run attracts about 200 motorcycles

Onlookers waved and tooted car horns as the motorcyclists made their way from Laurieton to Port Macquarie.

The toy run embraced the Christmas spirit.

The Harley Owners Group Mid North Coast Chapter organised the toy run.

The group’s activities officer, Chris Jackson, said just about every make of motorcycle was represented.

He said at the heart of the ride was support for the Salvation Army and children who were not as fortunate as most.

Laurieton United Services Club and The Westport Club also supported the event.

The Salvation Army’s Major Brett Gallagher said the community was very supportive.

“This is a really great kick off to get the presents we need for the 130 to 140 families that we will be helping this Christmas time,” he said.

Major Gallagher said the community realised a lot of people struggled and they were happy to lend a hand and help out. 

The toy run ended at the Hastings River foreshore.
