Hundreds of people of all ages walked together on Sunday to send a message to the wider community that change must happen now.
The 2016 White Ribbon Coastal Walk from Lighthouse Beach to Town Green was held under a picture-perfect sky and proved once again that the voice of the community can be an agent of change against the scourge of domestic violence.
Organised by the Hastings Domestic and Family Violence Support Service with the assistance of service providers across the Hastings, the White Ribbon Coastal Walk has become one of the region’s most successful community campaigns to highlight the need for change.
The walk kicked off at Lighthouse Beach with Mayor and White Ribbon ambassador Peter Besseling leading the charge.
It marks 16 days of activism to raise awareness about the responsibility we all have to change culturally embedded behaviours and attitudes that feed into the normalisation of violence against women and children.
