The Wauchope Blues are pleased to announce that all coaching positions for the 2017 Group 3 season have been appointed.
The Blues received a competitive list of applicants for the first grade coaching role with the decision eventually being made to appoint former Blues junior Anthony Boyd.
Boyd left the area as a 17-year-old to pursue a career as a rugby league player. Boyd has been coached by the likes of Craig Bellamy and Wayne Bennett. Anthony indicated he has taken on the role at the Blues with the hope of coaching the local junior talent into the best players they can be.
Club President Ged Roods is excited at the prospect of bringing a bit more professionalism to the club.
"Anthony has really thrown himself into the role, he has been in contact with most of last years players and has got the ball rolling with getting a core group of senior players signed with the club,” Roods said.
Taking on the reserve grade job will be co-captain coaches Shannon Walmsley and Robert Davison. Shannon was also a Wauchope junior and has recently returned the area with his family.
Robert is no stranger to the Blues either, having a couple of seasons with club a few years ago.
Both Robert and Shannon are serving members of the NSW police force and are based at the Kempsey station. Partly the reason why they have taken on the role together to make sure they can be committed to the team at all times.
Brad Maggs has taken reigns of the under 18's again for 2017. Maggs had great success with the side this year.
The Ladies League Tag will be coached by Brian Wright with club stalwart Ray Donovan lending his assistance as team manager.
