The Port Macquarie rep team that attended the State indoor rep championships in Gosford played some great hockey.
The team was this year put up to division two for the first time and made the semi- finals.
Unfortunately they went down 4–2 but put up some amazing hockey in the game.
The team that beat the girls in the semi-final had only had one goal scored against them all tournament and had scored 31 goals in the four previous games, so it was a absolutely fantastic effort from the Port girls to come so close in the final.
The girls won three of their four games 1-0, 2-0 and 5-0.
Team coach, Wauchope’s Colin Pursehouse was so proud of the effort all the girls put in all weekend and couldn’t have asked any more from them. The girls played their hearts out but had great fun in the process.
Players player for the tournament was a tie between Sienna Toohey and her sister Dominica. Goalie Alyssa Slattery saved too many goals to keep count, highest goal scorer was Jade Millward.
Cate and Zara were great strikers and goal scorers, Maddison was amazing in defence, and Emily Currey played well in attack and defence.
Matilda Holbrook did an amazing job as team captain and has now earned a well-deserved place as a shadow reserve for the NSW state team. And Sienna Toohey was named development player of the tournament.
