LEGENDS of the Bonny Hills Tennis Club came in different guises last Wednesday, on hand for the official opening of the sun safe patio area.
Les and Daphne Latham, Lindsay Klump, Jack and Daphne Dickens and Muriel Gould were among the foundation members of the tennis club born in 1977.
They came together to play tennis around the local courts then worked to fundraise for local tennis courts in Bonny Hills.
A celebrity legend, the Vicar of Dibley (Julie Evans), helped president Joan Evelyn, Pat Reynolds treasurer and secretary Maria Wood cut the ribbon to officially open the newest section of the tennis club.
A shady patio, a sun safe location, was built onto the club house this year thanks to $11,500 in funding from the NSW Department of Sport and Recreation and $12,000 of the club’s own funds.
“Not only will this be a great spot for our members, but for the school children who use our courts for sports days and members of other clubs who come to the courts for social days,” Joan said.
