Police have arrested and charged a man he allegedly threatened another man with a firearm during an altercation at Laurieton.
About 5pm yesterday (Wednesday 21 December 2016), five people were in the backyard of a home in Laurieton, when two adult males in the group became involved in an altercation.
One of the men, a 34-year-old man, left the address before returning a returning a short time later, allegedly armed with a handgun.
The man allegedly threatened the group with the weapon, by pointing the firearm at them, before leaving the residence.
Police were contacted and a short time later the 34-year-old man was arrested at a supermarket in Laurieton.
He was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where he was charged with armed with intent to commit indictable offence, affray, and use intimidation/violence to unlawfully influence person.
He was refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court on December 22.
A search was conducted at the man’s home and car, but the firearm allegedly used has not been located at this stage.
