But the forecast for Australia Day won’t be nearly as conducive for throwing a lamb chop on the barbie at the beach.
Weatherzone meteorologist Graeme Brittain said between five to ten millimetres of rain was forecast for the national day.
“You might be lucky to get a break for an hour or so between showers to get the barbecue on,” he said.
“But it’s not going to be as pleasant as you would like for Australia Day.”
Weatherzone predicts about 40mm of rain will fall in the Port Macquarie-Hastings area between Wednesday and Friday this week.
Rain is forecast over the weekend and into Monday January 30.
Tuesday was another scorcher although last week’s high is not likely to be reached again during the coming week.
Mr Brittain said despite the rain, temperatures are expected to remain in the high 20s and early 30s with very high humidity. The UV index will remain ‘extreme’.
