Funding has been approved for a Wauchope pool upgrade which is due to be finished by September 30.
Stage two of the Wauchope Pool upgrade was announced today (Friday) by the Federal member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie said today.
It’s been approved by Federal Deputy Nationals Leader Fiona Nash.
Dr Gillespie said the council was currently finalising a funding agreement with the Department of Infrastructure & Regional Development to give effect to the $1.5-million Federal funding commitment.
“Stage two of the upgrade includes the refurbishment of diving boards, electrical infrastructure, provision of accessible amenities, installation of a children’s water play area and construction of a new covered grandstand,” Dr Gillespie said.
“This is a wonderful project that will not only deliver more social and health benefits to the local community but also the broader Mid-North Coast region, and I am delighted that funding has now formally been made available to deliver on election our commitment,” Dr Gillespie said.
“The upgrade will lift the regional status of the facility to ensure it is able to host regional and state level events well into the future,” Dr Gillespie added.
Di Gilbert who’s campaigning for an indoor pool said the funding announcement was another import5ant step in the process and was good news.
Councillor Sharon Griffiths said it was fabulous.
“The kids now get something to play on and entertain them, making it more of a day out,” she said.
